WOMEN4PACKAGING is a special FACHPACK event organized by women for women in the packaging industry.

Following the successful premiere of the “WOMEN4PACKAGING” event during FACHPACK 2024, the format will once again be exclusively available to female FACHPACK visitors and exhibitors this year. The event on the first day of the trade fair, September 23, from noon to 2 p.m., offers participants a unique opportunity to network and discuss current topics in the packaging industry.

Dedicated women from industry, research and development, design, and sustainability will meet to share their knowledge, learn from each other, and jointly set new impulses for the packaging industry. “Our goal is to establish WOMEN4PACKAGING as an integral part of the industry – as a platform where every voice counts and every idea is given space. Together, we are driving forward key future topics such as the circular economy, smart packaging, digital transformation, and innovation,” explains the team led by FACHPACK boss Heike Slotta.

It is intended to be about much more than promoting women; the event is planned as a catalyst for relevant future topics. To ensure that in-depth discussions can take place in a pleasant atmosphere, there will be table talks with five different speakers as table captains. Each visitor will have the opportunity to participate in two table rounds. There will be a choice of technical topics from the world of packaging, but career topics are also on the agenda.

Simone Mosca, CEO of the machine manufacturer Mosca GmbH from Waldbrunn, is an expert who combines both topics. She is familiar with the different perspectives as a woman in technical professions, as a company founder, and as a working mother. The topic of sustainability and the circular economy is also an issue that the expert pursues in her own company. The title of her keynote speech is therefore “The Mosca Way to a Circular Economy for Strapping Bands.”

Mosca will talk about the development of sustainable solutions for transport packaging and the targeted reduction of waste through an innovative circular economy concept. The entrepreneur also wants to talk about the courage to change and the willingness to go beyond established boundaries.

“Sustainability in the packaging industry needs more than good ideas — it needs strong voices and courageous networks. I am involved in WOMEN4PACKAGING because together we can set new standards: for responsible materials, sustainable processes, and real change,” says Simone Mosca. She continues: “For me, breaking new ground in the circular economy means inspiring people to take responsibility together. It takes patience, strategic thinking, and the courage to reconcile ecology and economy. For me, this creates a path that leaves a lasting mark.”

Start-up and Brand Manufacturer Cooperate

Steffanie Rainer, co-founder of the start-up reo, will join Sabine Kästner, sustainability officer at Laverana, as table captain at the networking event at FACHPACK. Their topic is: “Pioneers of Transformation – Brands and Start-Ups for a Circular Future.” The aim is to show through dialogue how a corporation and a start-up can successfully work together to drive change, explains Rainer. “We are participating together to show that large companies and start-ups can successfully initiate projects.”

Sabine Kästner explains: “It takes visionary companies and minds that think freely and want to change things in order to drive necessary transformations.”

In the panel discussion, the two speakers want to talk about how cooperation can be structured in such a way that opportunities, challenges, and mutual learning are optimally perceived, solved, and implemented. “It's about actively shaping transformation, taking bold steps toward a circular future together, and creating momentum — not just discussing concepts, but initiating concrete implementation and internal change.”

Rainer and Kästnercan also report on a new and so far unique reusable system in the cosmetics industry.

The three companies Laverana GmbH, Kneipp GmbH, and Logocos Naturkosmetik GmbH & Co. KG have joined forces with the start-up reo, which is presenting its innovations at the “Young Innovators” joint stand at FACHPACK 2025, to launch a sustainable packaging project. The project will start shortly in the greater Munich area. Selected packaging from the natural cosmetics brands Lavera, Kneipp, Sante Naturkosmetik, and Logona can be returned to participating grocery stores.

The core of the one-year research project is reo's digital platform, which intelligently connects all stakeholders—from manufacturers to retailers to consumers. The aim is to develop a circular reusable system for cosmetic packaging.
