How is recyclability defined under the PPWR—and how will it be assessed in practice moving forward?
These questions have not yet been fully resolved. While the PPWR establishes the fundamental requirements, the specific criteria and the methodology for assessing recyclability will be defined in greater detail through subsequent legal acts from the European Commission. So, how can companies prepare now to ensure they are in the best possible position when these requirements come into effect?
This presentation outlines the key aspects of the PPWR’s recyclability mandates and explores the planned evolution of these requirements leading up to 2030 and beyond.
Furthermore, the session highlights concrete actions companies can take today: What information and data should be requested from suppliers? What packaging data should be systematically tracked internally? And when might a practical assessment of recyclability be appropriate?
The goal is to provide companies with a practical overview and identify steps that can be taken now to anticipate future requirements and prepare packaging development accordingly.
