STUDENT DAY: Career Booster for Young Talents

The STUDENT DAY at FACHPACK will once again bring students and top companies in the packaging industry together this year – for an exchange on equal terms, new insights and opportunities for both sides.

At the STUDENT DAY during FACHPACK 2025, students and leading packaging companies connect, exchange ideas, and explore career opportunities.

On 25 September 2025, Nuremberg will become the meeting place for the packaging industry of tomorrow: FACHPACK and the German Packaging Institute (dvi) invite you to STUDENT DAY. Over 60 students from German-speaking countries will meet around ten packaging companies and brand manufacturers here.

Workshops, discussion rounds, business speed dating and creative formats offer companies the opportunity to get to know young talents at an early stage and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation. Students from the fields of packaging technology, sustainability, design and plastics technology, in turn, gain valuable insights into innovative ways of thinking, sustainable strategies and concrete career paths. ‘The idea behind STUDENT DAY is to facilitate direct exchange: companies show what they are working on, students show what they are capable of. This creates genuine contacts, genuine insights and, in the best case, the first step towards a shared future,’ sums up Oliver Berndt from dvi.

Immersing Students in the Trade Fair Experience

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of FACHPACK, STUDENT DAY makes it possible to experience trends, technologies and strategies up close and explore them in depth through personal dialogue. ‘Students should experience the diversity and future prospects of the packaging industry at FACHPACK. In doing so, they discover career opportunities, gain insights into specific company offers and engage in direct dialogue with potential employers,’ says Oliver Berndt. Personal contacts are made at the trade fair, whether for an internship, career entry or simply for a clear orientation as to where one's own career path should lead. In this way, NürnbergMesse and dvi use their expertise to connect precisely those people who will shape the future of packaging.

This year, the workshops will once again focus on topics such as sustainable materials, design for recycling, innovation in the supply chain, career planning and interdisciplinary work. The format creates a clear win-win situation for companies and young professionals. ‘FACHPACK showcases the diversity of our industry. It complements our practical study semester and our excursions. It is easier to make acquaintances and have good conversations when there is an incentive to break down communication barriers through events. We are therefore grateful for these opportunities,’ says Prof. Dr. Sven Sängerlaub from Munich University of Applied Sciences.

A special highlight this year is the FACHPACK trade fair rally. A kind of obstacle course leads to a dozen innovative companies that are specially prepared for the students' visit and present their products and services in a compact format. At the trade fair stand, visitors can get to know the respective company and its services in a compact way. "This makes STUDENT DAY a special and eventful experience. If you like, you can take a journey through the world of packaging in a single day," says Oliver Berndt.

Prof. Dr. Sängerlaub also confirms that STUDENT DAY is worthwhile for both sides: "So far, companies such as Beiersdorf, Dalli, Henkel, Herma, Smurfit Westrock and Tchibo have participated. Each company has its own culture and expectations, and the specific challenges also differ. STUDENT DAY is a good platform for conveying an impression of the characteristics of the companies. That's what makes the format so valuable."

Numerous success stories underscore how important events like STUDENT DAY are for the future of entire industries. Former participants now hold positions of responsibility at the companies they got to know at STUDENT DAY. "For companies, STUDENT DAY is a valuable platform for positioning themselves as attractive employers at an early stage. It's not just about recruiting, but about engaging in dialogue with the next generation on an equal footing. Especially in a technology-driven industry, it is crucial not only to find young talent, but also to win them over. Visibility, authenticity and getting to know each other honestly are key components – and that's exactly what STUDENT DAY offers," says Oliver Berndt.
