The industry never stands still; it always remains innovative and vibrant. FACHPACK offers a comprehensive overview and is the key source of inspiration. Start-ups and companies with new ideas and innovative products will find the ideal environment here. Visitors will once again gain in-depth insights into the various fields of the packaging industry this year, while young companies can present their products, gather information, and establish new networks or expand existing ones. The Newcomer Pavilion and Young Innovators joint stands offer the perfect opportunities for this.
Fresh Ideas from International Newcomers
Ten companies will be presenting themselves in the Newcomer Pavilion in Hall 3.5 in 2025. The requirements for participation include: they must not be older than five years, must have fewer than 20 employees, and must have participated a maximum of three times. They must either be new to the industry or be based outside Germany.
This year, they come from six countries. These include Meadow, a Swedish specialist in packaging made from metal and renewable raw materials, as well as reusable and jewelry packaging. They offer cans, bottles, and buckets made from molded plastic. They provide the outer shell for aluminum containers used as cartridges for cosmetics and hygiene products, and the lids can be attached with a screw cap. Founded in 2020, the company focuses on replacing single-use packaging with aluminum containers that can be completely recycled. The product cycle lasts an average of 60 days.
and-less targets system and communal catering providers with standardized reusable packaging. The Austrian start-up has expanded its range of containers made from sustainable materials in GN format, the standard size for the catering industry to include the reusable and-less XL tray, which holds 3.4 liters and is tailored to the cook-and-chill process. The focus of all products is on the development of sealable reusable packaging. The founders’ goal is “reusability with added value.”
Noriware starts one step earlier. Founded in 2022, the company from Lupfig, Switzerland, develops solutions from renewable and biodegradable raw materials to completely replace plastic. As an alternative that offers the same possibilities as plastic but has a high sustainability effect, CEO Jessica Farda is focusing on algae. Her idea is to exploit the strengths of algae for use as a sustainable packaging material.
The Innovations of the Start-Ups at One Stand
FACHPACK offers start-ups a second platform at the Young Innovators joint stand, but they have to meet other requirements: the number of employees must not exceed 50, annual turnover must not exceed ten million euros, and the companies must not be older than ten years. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is supporting their presence at the trade fair, and the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) is reimbursing up to 60 percent of the stand costs.
This year, 21 companies are represented in Hall 3, offering solutions for digitalization, packaging materials, and technology, and answers to questions about sustainability.
Cell2Green has found one such answer in the development of biodegradable and reusable packaging materials. The start-up from Bad Doberan uses biodegradable and reusable packaging materials made from bio-based cellulose to produce its cellulose films. According to the company, it is five times thinner than LDPE and cellophane and is manufactured without the use of toxic chemicals, using bio-waste, among other things.
Wax Solutions specializes in bio-based barrier coatings for packaging papers to replace fossil raw materials with fiber-based paper packaging for food and non-food products.
