The German Packaging Award celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Launched in 1963 by the advisory board of the Rationalisierungsgemeinschaft Verpackung (RGV), the award has been under the responsibility of the Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V. since 1996, which has also driven its internationalization. “In the meantime, a good proportion of the entries – and the winners – come from abroad. The German Packaging Award has become the most prestigious and largest showcase of achievements in packaging in Europe,” says Dr. Bettina Horenburg, Director of Corporate Communications at the Siegwerk Group and, as a dvi board member, the person with overall responsibility for the German Packaging Award. To submit their products or prototypes, participants can choose from ten categories ranging from design and finishing to product presentation, cost-effectiveness and sustainability, logistics and material flow, digitalization and packaging machinery. It is also possible to submit in several categories at the same time. The award offers a special category for young people in school and studying. In addition to the Packaging Award, the independent expert jury of the German Packaging Award would also like to present a Gold Award for particularly groundbreaking innovations.
FACHPACK is a Premium Partner
The jury consists of a panel of experts from business, research, education and the media. The innovations and new solutions can be submitted via an online form on the German Packaging Award homepage at verpackung.org. The site also provides information on deadlines, addresses, categories, criteria and costs of a submission. The dvi, together with premium partner FACHPACK, will host the award ceremony in Berlin in September 2023.
