ESD - Risks
People and their behaviour pose the greatest risk with regard to ESD. For example, when employees handle electronic components without protective clothing and appropriate training. This is because clothing, skin and hair are susceptible to high charges. This is where an electronic discharge often occurs, as these carriers easily absorb charges. Feeling an electrical discharge when touching a door handle is a known ESD perception. However, the human perception threshold is often much higher (only from a voltage of 3000 volts), and so many discharges are not even noticed - but this can be harmful to electronic components or can even destroy them completely (from as little as 35 volts).
