Packaging instead of additives - safe protection for water-based products

Water-based products such as paints, coatings, and adhesives are particularly susceptible to microbial spoilage. Traditionally, they are preserved using chemical biocides – but the use of such additives is increasingly under regulatory and ecological scrutiny. This presentation introduces, for the first time, scientific study results that systematically examine the use of bag-in-box systems specifically for paints – delivering insights that have not previously been published. Based on these pioneering findings and real-world application examples, the presentation demonstrates how intelligent packaging solutions can provide a safe, hygienic, and sustainable alternative. Packaging becomes more than a container – it becomes an active protection system, eliminating the need for biocides.
