Session description
Plastic films with good barrier properties are essential for food packaging.
They protect them from environmental influences and extend their shelf life. Currently, multilayer composite films are used to meet the high requirements for barrier properties against oxygen, water vapour and aroma components. As these cannot usually be recycled, there is an urgent need for new, recyclable alternatives. These should consist of a single plastic and be improved in terms of their barrier effect.
As part of the ‘Mobile’ project, two different packaging films are being developed for the food sector whose base material consists of a single polymer (polypropylene and polyethylene) with a content of at least 95% by weight. Accordingly, the use of complex material combination ...
