Simplified Application Process for the German Packaging Award 2024
Applicants from Germany and abroad have until May 31 to submit their innovations and best solutions for the German Packaging Award. The award, organized by the German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi), is presented by an expert jury in ten categories. The prizes will be awarded at FACHPACK.
The German Packaging Award has long since become a renowned award in the industry beyond national borders. Established in 1963 by the advisory board of the Rationalization Association for Packaging (RGV), the prize has been in the hands of the German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V.) since 1996, which has also promoted its internationalization. A large proportion of entries now come from other European countries. It has also become a tradition for the awards to be presented at FACHPACK: Where the entire industry meets is the appropriate and dignified setting for a ceremonial presentation.
“Innovations play a central role in shaping the future. They create new opportunities and overcome challenges. This is particularly true for packaging, where innovations are the basis for growth, success, and competitive advantages, for health, diversity, joie de vivre, and quality of life, for environmental and climate protection. The German Packaging Award puts these achievements in the spotlight – from the seemingly small detail to the all-encompassing new design. It celebrates the best solutions and recognizes the people behind them,” says Oliver Berndt, Head of Events and Marketing at the dvi.
More Convenient Submissions
This year, the dvi has improved the digital submission processes “to ensure greater convenience and less effort for participants,” explains Berndt. “The accompanying texts, images, or videos can now be created at your leisure and optimized down to the last detail. The more precisely and clearly participants present the performance and significance of their innovations, the more impressive the overall picture is for the jury.”
“The German Packaging Award is a genuine, transparent showcase. By winning a packaging award or the even more exclusive Gold Award, companies make a bold statement. They demonstrate their outstanding innovative strength and gain tangible arguments in their communication with customers, consumers, partners, future employees and their own team,” emphasizes the Chairman of the Jury of the 47th German Packaging Award, Prof. Stefan Junge.
Ten Categories
Ten categories are available for the submission of products or prototypes, ranging from design, functionality, and convenience, product presentation, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability to logistics and material flow, new material, digitalization, and packaging machines (engineering, technology, software). It is possible to submit entries in several categories at the same time. The award also offers a special opportunity for the next generation of packaging experts.
The jury consists of a broad-based panel of experts from business, research, education, and the media.
Award Ceremony at FACHPACK
From among the winning innovations, the jury can also present a Gold Award to particularly pioneering solutions. The Gold Awards will be announced and presented at a festive awards ceremony at FACHPACK 2024 in Nuremberg. At this special industry event, all packaging award winners will also receive their certificate and the German Packaging Award trophy. “Make a note of September 24, 2024,” recommends Oliver Berndt, and not just to the participating companies. “We cordially invite you together with our premium partner FACHPACK.”
