Session description

The PPWR is the largest set of packaging regulations in the history of the European Union (EU) and will keep all stakeholders busy until 2030 and beyond. The aim is to significantly reduce the negative environmental impact of packaging and to significantly increase its recyclability and circularity. All types of packaging are affected, i.e., not only typical sales packaging but also transport and commercial packaging.

It came into force simultaneously in all EU member states on February 11 this year and must be implemented by the deadlines specified in the regulation from August 12, 2026. The German packaging legislation will also be adapted to the new EU law in the coming months.
