Patronage of the BMWi
The competition was launched in 1963 as a means of promoting innovation, is under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and has developed over the years into Europe's most prestigious showcase of packaging achievements. It puts the best solutions in the spotlight and their creators on the big stage. Winners of the packaging award are simultaneously nominated for the WorldStar of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).
In addition to the Packaging Award, the even more exclusive Gold Award is also presented. With the Gold Award, the jury can distinguish solutions from among the packaging award winners that represent particularly groundbreaking or pioneering innovations.
Strong arguments for sales and marketing
Winners of the packaging award receive a certificate and can use the title and seal as a packaging award winner to advertise the winning product for an unlimited period of time and in the media. By winning the Packaging Award or the even more exclusive Gold Award, the winners document their outstanding innovative strength. They put an exclamation mark and win tangible arguments in communication with customers, consumers, partners, future employees and their own team.
The jury of the German Packaging Award is reconstituted annually. It is very broadly based and consists of experts from trade associations, companies, teaching, research and trade media. The dvi provides information about the jury members on the website of the German Packaging Award.
