One of these innovations is the self-sticking stretch film core, which enables rolls to be changed in automated stretch film production lines by means of a magazine feed, even while the line is running at full speed. Designed to be wound with stretch foil of between 10 and 35 μm, this new core is the first to be made available to the market for mass production with a ‘sticky note’ surface finish. This surface finish with partial adhesion layer prevents the cores from sticking together in the dispenser, while also ensuring that the film adheres immediately once it is wound onto the core. This spares the stretch film manufacturer the cumbersome work step of applying adhesive tape and ensures that the foil unrolls entirely without any wastage. The new feature not only lowers production and disposal costs; it benefits the environment.
