At the technical core of the cera2heat® heating technology developed at watttron are modular-designed ceramic matrix heaters. They consist of heating circuits printed and fired on thin ceramic substrates. The cera2heat system is made of standardized modules. The surface of one heater module consists of 64 small heat pixels each 5×5 mm and arranged in 8×8 rows. In addition to the heater itself, all the necessary control electronics (as well as the power supply) are integrated into the module. Depending on the specifications of the thermoforming machine, several identical modules can be assembled into a complete heat plate according to the customers’ requirements. The functionality of our heating system could be compared with thin film transistor home cinema systems, which produce defined colour fields — cera2heat® systems produce defined temperature fields. Each of the regularly arranged, small heating pixels, with independent temperature settings, can be individually programmed and controlled. The precise temperature of the heating pixels can be visually projected as a thermal image and applied to the films to be formed. Due to the modular design, cera2heat® can be integrated or retrofitted to almost any machine. Additionally, watttron can realize customized heaters based on this technology.
