The trend is combination of printing techniques, materials or inks. Amongst other things, at FachPack fair, the label specialist shows combination of thermochrome and luminescent inks in just one printed picture. This means colour sensitiveness regarding heat/warmth as well as ultraviolet light.
Thermochrome inks
For the first time, Ulrich Etiketten presents thermochrome inks which react on heat/warmth. The colour disappears or changes the colour as soon as the set-point temperature is exceeded. Concrete one part of the printing layout will have thermochrome ink. Exceeds the set-point temperature for a few degrees Celsius, the ink will change to colourless or transparent. Reverse thermochrome inks may be used in different ways in UV-offset, UV-flexo, UV-screen or UV-letterpress: as a kind of security feature, to verify secure storage, for advertising ideas, as copy protection, and so on.
Luminescent varnish
Luminescent means the glowing of a substrate. Often the luminescent will be shown with UV-light – think about “bright” objects in discos or in dark rooms. As advertising impact, security element or attendance check of labels, luminescent varnishes will be used in all printing techniques.
