EcoCortec®, in Beli Manastir, Croatia is one of the best equipped bioplastics plants in Europe. The plant manufactures environmentally safe films, papers, and bags from renewable, biobased materials. EcoCortec® supplies biggest manufacturers in automotive, metal, marine, oil and gas, construction and other industries... The plant offers converting, extruding, and printing capabilities. It manufactures certified biodegradable alternatives to polyethylene films and bags while providing performance characteristics superior to both low and high density polyethylene films. Innovative and patented products offer one of the most extensive and biodegradable packaging lineups in the world. The plant has been expanded in 2018 with opening of new facility. Currently the plant has two production halls and five extruders at its disposal including state-of-the-art extrusion line E5 . Together with new offices the facility is 2000 square meters large and growing due to increasing demand for EcoCortec’s products. EcoCortec plant also contains converting machines for making bags, including a zip-lock bag machine, offline BOR (bag making machine on the roll) and individual bags. A film rewinder and recycling machine allow us to eliminate waste from our production process. New additions are paper and foam converting machine. Inside a facility of the plant is world-class laboratory that can perform testing compliant to Military Specifications (MIL-STD 3010) and ASTM standards. All VCI/VpCI® film batches are tested for VCI/VpCI® ability. Custom VCI/VpCI® films are also developed and tested on site. Specific strengths, tear resistance, tackiness, and slip qualities can all be formulated according to the customer’s needs. VCI/VpCI® film has already had a large impact on making corrosion protection environmentally friendly by reducing the need for traditional hazardous and cumbersome rust preventatives. The plant’s team raised this standard to an even higher level by creating a plastics recycling center, which uses state-of-the-art reprocessing equipment. EcoCortec® looks forward to economic and environmental benefits and hopes to be a model for other manufacturers to follow in opting for sustainable technologies.
