Koehler Paper Group: Driving innovation in the packaging market
New packaging solutions are among the most crucial fields in a world that is confronted with vast quantities of plastic on a daily basis. The Koehler Paper Group has set itself the task of offering solutions to counter this problem. This includes both alternatives for the area of flexible packaging and the area of high-quality board packaging, and how these can be used for premium products in cosmetics, perfumery or electronics. The most important part of the development work is functional paper with barrier properties, which can offer an alternative to plastic in many areas, but also other core areas such as thermal paper, where the first thermal paper approved for food contact has now been developed.
The Koehler Paper Group is already a world-renowned manufacturer of specialty paper. At its four locations, Koehler’s 1,800 employees produce more than 500,000 tons of various specialty paper, while at the same time operating a range of power plants so that, in the medium term, the energy for paper manufacturing can be derived 100 percent from renewable sources.
In its more than 210 years in business, the company has developed extensive expertise and a solid reputation, and it is known among its customers for its reliability and consistently high quality. Koehler is a partner that customers and suppliers can always rely on.
Meanwhile, the outlook for the future is also very promising, as the Koehler Paper Group is branching into the area of paper for flexible packaging with the new paper machine 8 at its Kehl site. The company is investing 300 million euros in this future-oriented production plant with its cutting-edge technology. This way, Koehler will be able to offer a broad portfolio of standard paper in the near future. Paper coated on one side for a wide variety of applications such as pouches, yoghurt wrappers and yoghurt tops are also part of the range, as is uncoated paper, which can be mechanically smoothed in a unique process.
Packaging made of paper is the ecological alternative to plastic and scores points for its natural look and feel. Koehler offers packaging paper made either of fresh fibers (FineTech) or of recycling material (ColorTech). The paper and board are extremely printable, with intense colors and a wide variety of embossing available. Our products are extremely suitable for further processing and are truly eye-catching. Many Koehler products are also certified with the important German “Blue Angel” ecolabel.
