The simulation system PacSi is developed and used for simulation service by IKA Dresden. The system is used for modeling, simulation and animation of operational behavior of processing plants. It is an effective analysis and optimization tool for complex plants in the consumer goods production and wrapping industries like food processing, pharmaceutics and cosmetics industry, brewing industry, luxury articles, animal foods, textile, paper, plastics, wood and much more.
For all plant components of these fields the material flow, the time- and quantity-dependent process behavior and the control can be represented.
Element internal processes and physical effects (e.g. thermal or rheological processes) are accounted for via their influence on the productivity and the availability of the machines and of linkage elements.
Based on the library of verified standard elements the system provides all necessary functions for the model preparation and maintenance, the simulation run and evaluation.
The use of the system requires detailed process knowledge and relieves the project engineer of extensive mathematical operations. Programming experience is not required. The power of the system is neither limited to planning nor to process optimization, much rather the system supports decisions in all project phases.
The simulation system of the IKA Dresden, a leading tool in its line, satisfies all demands of VDI guideline 3633 on discrete simulation in production and logistics. It complements the demands of the guideline by the methods which are required for modeling quasi continuous processes (mass transportation, variable operating speed, ...).
