Breaking Ground in Turkey...
Committed to raising consumers' awareness and protecting the environment, MOPAK has pioneered in Turkey by initiating a project to develop "Industrial Eucalyptus Plantation." Besides job opportunities, the Industrial Forests Project will also support the country's ecological system. Planned to make a significant contribution to both the national economy and the environment, the Industrial Eucalyptus Grandis Plantation project—the first of its kind in Turkey--was launched on April 5, 2003.
The plantation area, covering 75,000 hectares, is expected to produce three million cubic meters of wood for paper and 750,000 tons of eucalyptus pulp.
Aimed at obtaining wood for pulp production and producing, exporting pulp and paper, this project is inspired by the benefits of paper produced from eucalyptus pulp. These benefits include:
- higher degree of whiteness
- homogeneous dispersion on surface
- high opacity
- high volume
- uniform thickness
- longer life for printing knives
- homogeneous humidity dispersion
- high breaking, bursting and tearing factors
- problem-free in gluing, printing and photocopying applications
- high surface resistance
The Industrial Eucalyptus Plantation Project has received praise from the Aegean Chamber of Industry for its plans to obtain eucalyptus wood, used as a primary raw material in the manufacture of paper, not by import but through the establishment of a eucalyptus plantation that will work under a contract.
