ANL Plastics launches a new development on the market with a fresh look at transparent product packaging: Cubb-x® packaging.
The first products can already been admired in several supermarkets. For 2010, ANL Plastics predicts a prominent presence of the Cubb-x® blister.
Thanks to its specific and sleek design, the Cubb-x® box offers a revolutionary alternative in the world of the familiar blister pack for pastries in wholesale distribution.
The striking sleek design, with total absence of disturbing grooves and distortions, creates crystal-clear areas on all visible sides of the packaging and ensures optimal visibility and presentation of the packaged product. The even form guarantees rigidity, optimal stackability and maximum facing on the shelf.
A band or label provides the necessary product information and is easy to attach,. reinforcing even more the image of quality and exclusivity.
The cover and base form one whole. As a result, a packaging is created that is user-friendly and economically viable throughout the whole distribution chain. The Cubb-x® box is not only easily transportable (nestable) and quickly and efficiently fillable, it also offers the consumer a strong, properly closed unit with optimal ease of use concerning storage and removal of contents.
The packaging is suitable for frozen and cold food applications, dry biscuits and chocolate, and for non-food articles such as toys, gifts, etc. Because the Cubb-x® packaging has a neutral appearance, the contents itself is highlighted and the user can create an impression that perfectly matches the contents.
The standard model is made from APET. For pastries and other moisture-containing products an anti-fog treatment is provided.
Protection from impact damage is one of the most important functions of packaging. For some packaging components the protection of fragile products is actually the primary function. Such ‘fragility packaging’ is available in a multitude of materials and forms. Very often, fragility packaging is manufactured from aerated plastics (polystyrene foam, expanded PE), but also(corrugated) cardboard, shaped paper pulp, inflatable bags and even expanded clay are used. As is often the case in the packaging world, there are a number of standard solutions, but generally the packaging is tailor-made.
Thermoforming is ideally suited for the manufacture of tailor-made protective packaging. ANL Plastics is the exclusive supplier of the Geospring® system in Europe. This packaging system uses the patented Geospring® end caps, trays or even corner pieces. Multipacks, with or without a thermoformed cover, are also available under the Upad brand name. All of these protective parts are designed with a spring section. When a protected object falls from a height, the thermoformed springs come into action. In this way both the shock of impact and the vibrations are absorbed. The system enables the ‘caps’ to be used to offer a wide range of impact protection (G forces) and vibration damping without using a large quantity of plastic.

Geospring® offers three clear ecological advantages over conventional foam packaging :
Volumetric savings – Thermoformed Geospring® fragility packaging stacks neatly (nesting). On average, the stacks are 10 to 15 times more compact than the equivalent polystyrene products, which are not nestable but stack on top of one another. The pallet occupancy is therefore much greater and this ensures lower transportation and logistics costs.
Weight saving – Geospring® fragility packaging uses a minimum of plastic and allows the cardboard outer packaging to be minimised.
Choice of materials - Geospring® can be manufactured either partially or even completely from recycled materials. The Geospring® packaging itself can also be recycled. This enables ‘closed loops’ to be created for assembly points where the Geospring® packaging of components can be returned. After processing, they are turned into new foil and Geospring® products.
Although the Geospring® system is mainly used for packaging computers and peripherals such as hard disks, laptops, monitors and so on, the applications are infinitely more numerous. The technology can certainly be used for other consumer electronics. Applications in more traditional industries are certainly possible.

With VisiOpac®, ANL Plastics developed a new packaging concept where a dome packaging (with bottom & lid) is sealed gastight. Foodmakers can print the sealing ring to improve brand image and visibility of their product.
ANL meets here the tendency of “out of home” meal consumption. Important in this market trend, is the extending of the storage life in combination with a beautiful product presentation.
