In the paper and packaging industry, Jowat focused on the following fields of application:
Packaging industry and manufacture of packaging materials
The variety in packaging for durable goods and nondurable goods is becoming more and more diverse. This created new product and market sectors that are very different from an application point of view, like all types of cardboards, trays and folding boxes. Modern packaging processes in carton closing of e.g. End-of-Line packaging, require adhesives that can be applied very precisely.
Beverage industry (Liquid Food)
Besides beverage carton closure (cap application), straw application incl. foil packaging and the application of plastic labels on metal, PE, PP and PET, outer packaging is also a main application in the beverage industry. High processing speeds and the growing diversity of packaging forms and materials require adhesives that are precisely adjusted to the processing steps.
Manufacture of sacks, bags and pouches (Rigid Food)
There is a wide range of applications for adhesives in flexible packaging, characterised by specific requirements. Major applications are bags and pouches, compound films, aseptic packaging that need to comply with food regulations, wovens in carrier bags and heavy-duty sacks, and bags and sacks made of paper and plastic.
High-gloss lamination, which has been for many years a focus of Jowat in the graphics industry, is especially used to finish folding boxes, book covers and other high-quality print products. Other fields of application are bookbinding, LayFlat books, structural Braille varnish, UV varnish, sets of form sheets, envelopes, bonding of cut-out windows and other print jobs.
